A rotary joint is a closed rotary connector that can transport fluid such as compressed air, cooling water, hydraulic oil, and thermal oil through the rotating pipeline of the connector. It is also known as a pneumatic rotary joint, hydraulic rotary joint, and conductive slip ring. The common types of rotary joints include hydraulic rotary joints, high-pressure rotary joints, multi-channel rotary joints, high-speed rotary joints, high-temperature rotary joints, single channel rotary joints, etc. The application fields include metallurgy, machine tools, power generation, petroleum, rubber, plastics and other processing and manufacturing automation industries.
Common materials for rotary joints
1.304 stainless steel, made of stainless steel, has good rust resistance and high temperature resistance, can withstand high temperatures of 1000 ℃, and can withstand corrosion from alkaline solution and most organic and inorganic acids well. 316L stainless steel, also known as titanium steel, also has corrosion and high temperature resistance properties.
2. Carbon steel and 45 # carbon steel have high strength, good plasticity, and good toughness, and are used to manufacture small section quenched and tempered parts. The load on rotary joints is large, and the stress on normalized parts is small. Surface hardened parts with lower strength requirements can also be used, but water quenching can form cracks and the shape of the parts is complex. The parts should be quenched in hot water due to poor weldability.
3. Ductile iron can improve the mechanical properties, plasticity, and toughness of cast iron, achieving higher strength than carbon steel.
4. Compared with ordinary graphite rings, silicon carbide special ceramics have lower density, higher bending and compressive strength, lower coefficient of thermal expansion, more stable temperature resistance, and imported graphite rings are more wear-resistant and high-temperature resistant.
Usually, the casing of a rotary joint is made of copper and can withstand high-speed rotation. If there are special requirements, you can choose materials that better meet the requirements. The heat resistance temperature of high-temperature rotary joints is determined by the heat resistance of each component. Before use, the heat resistance temperature should be clearly specified, but it must be lower than this temperature during use.
